

Janis graduated from Waco High and later received a bachelor’s degree in art history from The University of Texas at Austin. She was married to John A. Metoskie on Jun. 30th, 1973. Janis was a meticulous wordsmith who used her talents to write proposals in the relocation industry. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Janis was a proud and enthusiastic platelet donor. In her final years, she had begun to learn piano. She had a passion for home improvement, DIY projects, fine art, and hunting down a good bargain. Most of all, Janis cared deeply for her family and friends. Her gentle love and devotion were felt by all who knew her.
Janis is preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, John A. Metoskie, her parents Edward and Bernice Walters, her sister Teresa Corley, her father-in-law John F. Metoskie, and recently, her brother-in-law Dr. John Nelson.
She is survived by loving sons Alan and Eric Metoskie, daughter-in-law Kwameshia Carter-Metoskie, brother-in-law Clifford Corley, nephew Charles Corley, niece Carrie Smith, sister-in-law Marcia Nelson, and nephew John Nelson.
Funeral Mass will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richardson, TX on Aug. 25th, 2023 at 10:30 am (preceded by rosary starting at 10:00 am). Memorial/Celebration of Life to follow at 12:30 pm at Sparkman Funeral Home at 1029 S. Greenville Ave., Richardson TX.
