

John Slice passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2010 in Garland, TX at the age of 89. By faith, John trusted in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He is now joined with his beloved wife, Mae, in Heaven. He was born in Fort Worth, TX on July 7, 1921 to J.F. and Ruby Faye Slice. In 1940, John graduated from Graham High School where he met the love of his life, Mae, in their senior year and they married in 1943. John served in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant and during WWII he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from SMU in 1948, and worked for Mobil Pipe Line 37 years until retiring in 1983. He and Mae were active members of Walnut Hill UMC since 1954. He also was a member of the Magnolia-Mobil Ex Club. John is preceded in death by his wife of 67 wonderful years of marriage, Mae Edna Slice; and sister, Mary Lehr. He is survived by his three children, Fred Slice, Dudley Slice and his wife Christy, and Belinda Kay Slice; three grandchildren, Kristi Leigh, Cody and David, who all lovingly called him grandpa; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held 11:30 AM, Friday, Sept. 17 at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, 10066 Marsh Lane, Dallas 75229, with Rev. Ben Shinn, Senior Pastor, officiating. Inurnment will follow at 3:00 PM at DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas 75211. Donations may be made to Walnut Hill UMC, or a charity of your choice.
