Jose was born on July 14, 1953, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Humberto and Celestina Cavazos (Cruz). Due to a clerical error, he was also given a second birthday on June 14 — a twist he embraced wholeheartedly, joyfully celebrating both days each year.
On September 29, 1984, Jose married the love of his life, Ma Reynalda, in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. In 1998, he made the brave decision to move to the United States, and two years later, brought his family to be with him, fulfilling his dream of a better future for them all.
Jose was a devoted Son of God and a faithful follower of Jesus. A longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas, he lived his faith daily with strength and humility.
He was a hard worker, a provider, and a protector — courageous in the face of life’s challenges. But he was also joyful, playful, and full of life. Known for his jokes and lighthearted spirit, he had a gift for bringing smiles to those around him. He loved collecting hats and coffee cups, small treasures that reflected the warmth and character he carried with him every day.
Above all, Jose cherished his role as a husband, father, and grandfather. His love for his family was limitless, and his legacy will live on in their hearts forever.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and always celebrated.
Jose is survived by his wife, Ma Reynalda; children Jose Luis his wife Lorena Cavazos, Reyna Cavazos her husband Jose Martinez, Elizabeth and her husband Christian Cuevas, and Veronica and her husband Irvyn Corona; 13 grandchildren Aaron, Andrea, Mateo, Issac, Anthony, Celeste, Lucia, Christian Adrian, Santiago, Elizabeth and Alessandra; brothers Alonso, Emilio, Rogelio, Jesus Maria, and Gerardo; and sisters Maria Guadalupe, Rosa Maria y Maria de los Angeles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Humberto and Celestina Cavazos (Cruz); his brothers Oscar and Eliezer; and his grandson, Aaron
Jose will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The Cavazos family asks that, in honor of Jose, green plants be sent instead of flowers — living reminders his family can cherish in the days to come.
