Kenneth (Ken) Marshall Miniard was born October 22, 1950 in Fort Worth, Texas and passed away August 24, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by father, Jodie (Joe) R. Miniard and mother Bobbye Jo Miniard Streightoff.
After returning from service in Vietnam where he was awarded two bronze stars, Ken moved back to San Antonio, completed college course work and received his Bachelor Degree from Southwest Texas State College (now Texas State University). Ken devoted most of his life to law enforcement and served as a Special Ranger for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) for more than 28 years.
He was a man of many interests including hunting, fishing, making custom knives and cooking for family as well as chuck wagon/cowboy style for large groups. Ken and wife, Charlotte, volunteered in the International Room at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo for more than 20 years where Ken cooked and served breakfast to the volunteers as well as a midday meal to all the international guests. He was also a member of a “gunfighters” group that performed for special occasions.
Ken loved kids and mentored many including his nephews whose memories include teaching them how to tie shoes, cook, ride a horse, rope, shoot a gun, chew tobacco and spit – all important skills for a cowboy! Family and friends remember him as a great cook, storyteller extraordinaire and an “all around good guy.”
