

Lois S. Abadie, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023, in Dade City, FL. Lois was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 2, 1937, and her parents were Alice Adelaide Greenfield and Milton Elmer Norman Schmidt. Lois grew up with two sisters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She completed an undergraduate degree at Tulsa University, and continued college in Baton Rouge at Louisiana State University (LSU), attaining a Master’s Degree in Social Work. While attending LSU, Lois met Ronald Joseph Abadie, the love of her life, and they were married in November 1962. They settled in New Orleans, LA where Lois and Ron’s daughter, Karen, and son, Marc, were born. While in New Orleans, Lois worked as a social worker for many years helping with adoptions and counseling mothers-to-be. Later, the family moved to Richardson, TX, and when her children were older, Lois continued her work as a social worker in Dallas helping parents with young children reach their full potential. Lois and Ron were devoted in marriage just 3 months shy of 50 years.
Lois was a wonderful, caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Throughout her life, Lois enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and découpage, and made many beautiful clothes, arts, and crafts to share with family and friends. Lois became a member of Kappa Delta (KD) in college and continued, until her death, her philanthropic work and camaraderie with the KD alumnae chapter of Richardson/Plano, TX.
Lois S. Abadie will be greatly missed and is survived by her sister Kathy Schmidt Luna of Richardson, TX, her sister Jann Carol Blanchard (Roger) of Sheboygan, WI; her daughter Karen Abadie Miller (Chris) of San Antonio, FL, her son Marc Justin Abadie (Laurie) of Westlake, OH; five granddaughters: Emily Rachael Miller, Laura Marie Miller, Morgan Josephine Abadie, Paige Marie Abadie, Kaylee Lynn Abadie; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service for Lois will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Sparkman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1029 S Greenville Ave, Richardson, Texas 75081.
