Born January 29, 1944 to Amparo Garcia Rocha and Francisco Alfredo Rocha, who died in Normandy when Luis was 6 months old. His mother later remarried and Amador Holguin became his stepfather. Brother to Estella, Jenny, Lily and Sylvia, he was raised in El Paso, playing football for his beloved El Paso High Tigers.
He completed his Bachelors Degree at the University of Texas El Paso with a degree in civil engineering at which time he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as an Air Defense Army Officer for 6 years, rising to the rank of Captain.
He married Vicki Johnston and had two children, Marissa and Luis II (“Louie”). Following their divorce, he married Katherine McCool and lived in Dallas for the rest of his life.
Throughout his professional career, he was National Marketing Coordinator for VingCard Systems, Inc. and Vice President of Operations and Business Controller for Halden Conner, Inc. and Hotel Management Systems, Inc., Data Processing Coordinator and Assistance Controller for Gibson Distributors, Inc., and Assistant Administrative Project Manager for Electronic Data Systems (EDS). Luis was International Marketing Director of Longcrier Farms, a genetic center and major producer of cattle genetics worldwide.
From 1984 he was active in the export of livestock genetics worldwide, serving as owner and President of American Genetics International until the time of his death.
