On May 26, 2023, after 92 years of a blessing to her family, friends, and church, Marialyce DeLoach left this world to be with her heavenly father. Mary was born and lived her entire life in Dallas along with countless aunts, uncles, and cousins. After a lengthy romance and graduation from Woodrow Wilson High School, Mary married Dill DeLoach. They had two sons, Johny DeLoach, and Dr. Joe DeLoach. After a divorce and time alone, Mary married Bill Stephenson who thirteen years later was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. After Mary retired from a long and successful career in healthcare, Dill re-entered Mary’s life. They married again and she spent the rest of her life with Dill. Mary was a successful office manager and optometric assistant for twenty-seven years, the last fifteen managing her son’s practice. She was a distinguished leader in the optometric profession and received numerous awards including the Southwest Council Optometric Assistant of the Year, Dallas Paraoptometric of the Year, and the Texas Optometric Association Optometric Assistant of the Year. In her spare time, she was also involved in her son’s PTAs, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. By invitation, she served many years with the Altrusa Club International, a professional women’s leadership organization. Mary was a dedicated member of the Garland Road Church of Christ, later to become Highland Oaks Church of Christ where she served for years in the Helping Hearts Ministry. Mary stayed very active with family and friends until just days before she passed.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Johny and Gladys Morse, former husband Bill Stephenson, and sister Shirley Hosea. She is survived by her loving husband Dill; son Johny DeLoach and wife Denise; son Dr. Joe DeLoach and wife Sandra; grandchildren Brandon DeLoach; Justin DeLoach and wife Janice; Megan Yankee; Angela DeLoach Prows and husband Jace; Josh DeLoach and wife Laura, and Holly DeLoach Wilson and husband Kyle. The family wishes those joining in the celebration of Marialyce’s life not to wear black. Mary loved colors, especially blue.
