Mary Elizabeth Chandler

Mary is survived by her loving daughter Janet Carole Anders, grandson Robert Zachary Anders and great grandsons Reed Carson Anders and Ethan Cole Anders. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son William Bruce Chandler and her brother David Gus Doggett Jr.

Mary was born October 12, 1929 in Ferris, Texas to Emily Lucille and David Gus Doggett Sr. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and then attended Southern Methodist University. Mary pledged to Kappa Kappa Alpha sorority which she continued to be active in or many years after college. She married Leonard William Chandler at Highland Park Methodist Church on October 4, 1952. Mary worked as a secretary for Zurich American Insurance and retired from Marine Office of America Corporation.

Mary and Leonard later joined their neighborhood church Greenland Hills UMC where she enjoyed singing in the choir and writing a monthly newsletter for the homebound church members. She also enjoyed volunteering her time visiting residents of C.C. Young whenever possible.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2 pm March 4, 2022 at Sparkman Richardson. Pastor Kerry Smith of Greenland Hills UMC will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary's life.

The family requests donations to The Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
