Myron was born in Los Angeles on June 23, 1938. After graduating from UCLA he served his country in the US Army in Germany. He subsequently attended and graduated from Southwestern Medical School and began his career in clinical therapy practice. He married Patsy Phillips and helped her raise Reed and David. He married Carla Stengel on March 11, 1988. Their son, Daniel, was born in 1989.
Myron was the first psychologist in Texas to be accepted into a medical psychanalytic institute for training, beginning in 1989. He was a member of the the American Psychoanalytic Association, the Dallas Psychoanalytic Association, and was a dedicated student of Lee’s White Leaopard Tai Chi. He loved music, especially jazz. He played the accordion and was a voracious consumer of film, television, and literature. He loved to travel and explore cuisine. He was a loyal fan of Dallas and Los Angeles sports (racketball, football, baseball, softball, tennis, track and field, soccer, and beyond). Most of all, he loved being a devoted husband, loving father, and doting “cat-dad” to many cats over the years. He retired in 2019 and spent his last years enjoying his favorite food, books, and media. He is missed by so many families.
Myron was a beloved husband, father, step-father, uncle, therapist, professor, mentor, writer, and musician. We will remember his curiosity, his jokes, his comfort, his understanding, his love, and his laughter. He helped so many of us through good times and hard times.
He is survived by his wife Carla and son Daniel, daughter in law Danielle, brother Jim and wife Cathy and children Jacob and Louis, brother Jerry, former wife Patsy, step-son Reed and wife Alisa and sons Nathaniel and Cody, step-daughter-in-law Allison and children Laney, Sally, Lucy, Elly, and Liam.
