

She was born in Dallas, Texas on February 10, 1958. Nancy attended Preston Hollow Elementary and Benjamin Franklin Junior High in Dallas before her family relocated to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1972. N
Nancy graduated from Sooner High School in Bartlesville where she played flute and piccolo in marching band and orchestra and was on the girls’ softball team. She went on to study music at The University of Oklahoma and Wichita State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree Cum Laude in 1980. Nancy continued her music studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, graduating Cum Laude with a Masters in Music History degree in 1982.
Nancy had a lengthy career with Eastman Kodak Company and Bio-Rad Laboratories in Dallas where she wrote technical documentation for medical software.
Nancy’s passion for golf, fishing, gardening, landscaping, birds and animals was evident in the enthusiasm, excellence and joy she demonstrated in each of those pursuits. As a Fifth Generation native Texan, Nancy was deeply interested in her family history and genealogy, dating to 1846 and the early founding of the City of Dallas as it involved the maternal Knight family pioneers.
Nancy was an active member with the local Amateur LPGA group and frequently participated in tournaments and other activities.
Nancy is survived by her brother Mark H. Whatley and sister-in-law Laura Whatley of Arlington; nephews Greg Whatley of Arlington and Grayson Taylor of Lawrenceville, Georgia; sister Robin L. Quick of Farmers Branch; and her dearest friend and gracious caregiver Brenda Stoddard, of Richardson. She was preceded in death by her father, Julius J. (Jay) Whatley, Jr., and mother, Gloria Gene Knight Whatley, of Bartlesville; and her brother-in-law Steven Quick of Farmers Branch.
Funeral arrangements have been made through Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson. Friends and family are invited for visitation on Friday, May 1, 2020 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Because of restrictions on gatherings due to the COVID-19 situation, a private family graveside service will be held. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nancy’s name to the Richardson Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
