

Robert Bernard “Bob” Drinkwater, 81, of Garland, TX passed away peacefully on October 9, 2011. Bob was born February 5, 1930, in Amarillo, TX to Robert Bland “Thirsty” Drinkwater and Jewell Griffis. He moved to Dallas when he was four years old. He attended Walnut Hill Elementary, the oldest elementary school in Dallas, and Texas Country Day Prepatory, now St. Marks.
After serving in the United States Air Force, he worked in the glass business for 50 years; initially with Binswanger Glass and eventually owning his own glass manufacturer’s representative company for over 20 years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Survived by his loving wife Rubye to whom he was married for 61 years; son Bland and his wife Phyllis; daughter Debbi Richards; brothers, Mike Drinkwater and his wife Tish, Clifford Houser and his wife Cindy; sisters Claudia Hutchings and her husband Eric, and Juliana Jones and her husband Bob. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Cory Scarborough, Charlie Ruyle and wife Tanya, Katie Harwood, and Meredith Drinkwater. Three great-grandchildren; Hannah Ruyle, Sydney Scarborough and Payton Ruyle.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Haddox, Dr. Michael Bui, Dr. Mark Ferris, the staff at Presbyterian Village North, Doctor’s Hospital third and fourth floor and Vista Care for all the medical and moral support over the past four months.
