

Robert attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa and was a graduate of the University of Iowa Law School. He began his professional career in Waterloo, Iowa, as Claims adjuster for State Farm. He soon became the First Deputy Insurance Commissioner. In 1977, he moved his family to Dallas where he took a position with Transport Insurance. He had a successful career as an insurance executive and eventually retired from United American, a Torchmark subsidiary. He joined Alcoholics Anonymous in 1980, and thereafter was a faithful, proud and active member, valuing the sobriety it helped him maintain. He was a founding board member for the Crested Butte AA conference. A lifelong sports fan, he played golf into his early 80’s and enjoyed that time with his son’s and grandson. His daughters loved him and fed him well. He was a “Die Hard Cubs Fan” and was thrilled with the Texas Rangers recent success.
He is survived by Marvel Link, his wife of 44 years. He was the proud father of eight children, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alphonse Link and mother, Valerie Sindelar Link and three of his children, Lisa Link, Kevin Link and Heather Link.
Bob, Dad, Papa will be missed greatly by the many that came in contact with him. He was loved dearly and those he touched will remember him fondly, always.
A Memorial Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 5231 Meadowcreek, 75248 on Thursday, July 28th at 11:00 AM. Following the Mass, there will be visitation at the home at 6910 Blue Mesa Dr, Dallas 75252. Interment services will be held at DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain View Parkway, 75211, promptly at 9:45 AM on August 3, 2011.
