It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ronald F. Bruce, 76, of Richardson, Texas. All who loved him are at peace knowing his battle with a terminal illness was short and that he is with his maker. Ron was born in Kansas City, Kansas on April 30, 1947, to Joe and Helen Bruce.
Ron spent his formative years in Kansas City, Kansas where he developed many friendships that still run strong today. He graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1965 and soon decided to serve his country by joining the Marines. After serving two years in Vietnam and earning several medals, including a Purple Heart, Ron returned to Kansas and married the love of his life, Glenda on June 28, 1969. In 1971, he graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in journalism, although he eventually ended up in the property management business, resulting in the formation of his own property management company in 1989.
Ron was known as a tough, but fair negotiator who valued hard work and honesty above all else. He was known and respected by many for his integrity in the workplace, a trait he passed on to his two children, Shannon and Patrick. An avid golfer, Ron was also known for his “dry sense of humor” both on and off the course, and those who braved this dryness and grew to know him realized he was a true friend with a heart of gold.
Ron is survived by his daughter Shannon Bruce of Plano, TX. Son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Angela Bruce of Emory, TX, and his grandchildren, Hallie Roubinek of Wylie, TX. Airman, Easton Roubinek of Dallas, TX, Kinley Bruce of Emory, TX, his brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Debbie Bruce, and his sister, Sandra Hale.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Glenda Bruce, his parents, Joe and Helen Bruce, and his brother, Marty Bruce.
A memorial service will take place Monday, March 4, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Sparkman Funeral Home on Greenville. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
