Sydney Thanh-Lam Lao

Our sweet Sydney departed this world on March 25, 2026, at the age of 26, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that far exceeded her years. To know Sydney was to know a rare kind of grace; she was a beautiful soul who radiated warmth from the inside out.

Sydney lived her life as a devoted daughter, a protective sister, and the kind of friend who felt like home. Though her time with us was far too short, the depth of her impact was immeasurable. She possessed a quiet magic, unique ability to make every person she met feel truly seen and deeply valued. Whether she was championing a cause close to her heart or simply offering a listening ear, Sydney’s life was a masterclass in how to love others well. She was a constant, shimmering light for her family and friends, and that light will never truly dim.

Sydney’s memory will be forever cherished by those she leaves behind: her mother, Elaine Garcia, and stepfather, Jimmy Garcia; her brother, Noah Lao; her stepbrother, Jimmy Garcia; and her biological father, Eo Lao. Her loss is deeply felt by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins, whose lives were made brighter by her presence.

She is now reunited with those who went before her: her maternal grandparents (Hong-Lien Nguyen and Trac Phan), her paternal grandmother, and her beloved uncles, Lâm Phan and Quyen Phan.

Sydney’s spirit remains with us in every act of kindness we share and every time we stand up for one another. She will be missed immensely, loved eternally.
