

Donald served 3 years in the United States Army during the occupation of Japan. Afterwards he attended the ABAC Junior College, University of Georgia, and the School of Photography in New York City, leading to his career as a photographer for 40 years. He attended Richlands Community Christian Church, and was also a member of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #564, the Jacksonville Chapter 327 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Moose lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Selman Hogan and Lillie Yeakey, a brother Charles Hogan, Jr., and sisters Virginia Parrish and Grace Callaway.
He is survived by his wife Carmen of the home, sons Phillip Hogan of Bedford, VA, Duane Hogan of Castle Hayne, NC and Dana Hogan of Cary, NC, daughter Donna Alise “Lisie” Stephenson of Carolina Beach, NC, step children LaVern Phillips Jr., Connie Raynor, Sharon St. John, Victoria VanDermark, and Marilyn Creadle, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service for Donald will be held at the Whaley Family Cemetery on Whaley Dr. across from the Community Christian Church in Richlands on Thursday at 6PM with pastor Daniel Davenport officiating. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Richlands Thursday at 6PM.
Anyone who would like to make a memorial contribution in honor of Donald can make it to the Wounded Warriors Project in his name.
