
Robert Joseph Flihan, 78, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 unexpectedly at home surrounded by his loving wife of 50 years and family. “Bob” originally from Utica, NY relocated to NC 11 years ago. He enjoyed being around loving family and loved being outdoors bird watching. He also enjoyed fishing with his son-in-law Earl, and planted a flower garden every year. Bob was a devote Catholic and was actively involved in the Eucharistic Ministry and Adoration at Infant of Prague.
Bob is survived by his wife, Madeline Diruzzo Flihan of the home, his five children and their spouses, Timothy and Leslie Flihan of Utica, NY, Mari and Earl Futral of Richlands, Julie and David Shay of Chesapeake, Va, Robert and Janelle Flihan of Raleigh and Cathy Burnette of Richlands. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by 2 brothers, John and Michael Flihan and Terri Labella all of Utica, NY.
Although two numerous to mention, Bob was dearly loved by many and will be missed by more. He had a special bond with Herb and Nancy Ripley and Pam Lamora. All shared the same love for playing cards and watching the Super Bowl together. There will be a Memorial Mass at the Infant of Prague on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
