Mother Barbara Jean Saucer
Mother Barbara Jean Saucer was born on June 19, 1938, in Monroe, Louisiana to the late Zollie Jones and Irma Jones. She confessed Christ at the age of 9 years old as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Peter’s Rock Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Tom Gray in Monroe, Louisiana. She began singing for the Lord as a member of the Junior Choir and she also served on the Junior Usher Board at Peter’s Rock Baptist Church.
She received her education from the Ouachita Parish School District in Monroe, Louisiana. In 1981 she decided to continue her education and enrolled at Contra Costa College with a major as a Medical Ward Clerk and she was a model straight A student. While in Monroe, Louisiana she gained employment at a local Doctor’s office as a Medical Assistant in charge of daily operations in the office.
She met the love of her life John Saucer Jr aka “Tommy” and was united in holy matrimony and to this union five children were born Deborah, Pamela, Lonnie, John Michael and Marvin. In February 1964 the family relocated to Richmond, CA and has remained as the family home to this day.
In April 1981 while attending Pilgrim Rest MBC under the leadership of Rev. C.E. Richardson she was given the right hand of fellowship, and was an active member of the Music Department and Missionary Circles, and Bible Study, she held the position of secretary for several church ministries, and was known as the Church historian curator because she kept all the church programs and minutes from meetings. In May 2002 she joined St. John MBC under the leadership of Pastor Kevin B. Hall where she sang unto the Lord a new song with the Inspirational Voices Choir, she attended Sunday School Class#1, and a member of the Women’s Mission Ministry. In January 2022 she left St. John MBC, and was lead to join One Way Assembly which God lead her youngest Son Minister Marvin Saucer to organize. She was a faithful member who served on the Praise Team, participated in the weekly Bible Study and the Family Bible Study ministry.
Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13 which was one of her often used signature quotes in all birthday cards and thank you cards. She would also quote” I must work while it is the day because when the night cometh no man can work”. She remained a faithful and dedicated servant in the body of Christ, and even during her sickness, and she trusted in her Lord and Savior during her transition to answer her Eternal roll call to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The Lord decided to call Barbara Jean Saucer home on July 13, 2024, at 86 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents Zollie and Irma Jones; loving husband John Saucer Jr; sisters; Janice Faye White, and Cleotha Johnson; granddaughter Taryn Eaton; grandson; Davanius Saucer.

She had a light within her that shined so bright in her spirit that others always could feel and see. She will be truly missed.
