Brenda Joyce Jefferson, age 72, of San Pablo, CA passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021. She was born in Oakland, CA on February 22, 1949, to the parents of the late Curtis Paul and Betty Lee Buggs. She was the third eldest of 8 siblings. Brenda joined The Greater El Bethel Baptist Church and received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Oz Harper. She received her education through the Richmond Unified School District.
Brenda was raised in Parchester Village, where she met her late husband, Edward Jefferson. They were married on November 22, 1968, and were married for 45 years.
On March 16, 1965, she had her son Robert Lee Wiley. In 1985, after the passing of her baby sister, Brenda took the honor of raising her sister's youngest two children, Dineka Mason, and Tommy 'TJ' James.
Brenda started her working career at Blue-Shield, in administration. In 1982, she began her career at AC Transit as a bus operator, where she worked for 26 years, wearing badge #30177. She loved what she did for a living.
After retiring in 2008, Brenda spent time enjoying life and continue to be there for her family and friends. She was a giving, selfless woman who loved wholeheartedly. She was bold and courageous and had faith even when things seemed hopeless.
Brenda loved cooking, playing games on her computer, listening to music, watching cooking shows, and most of all watching soap operas. Brenda would spend hours on the phone talking about The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful with her favorite cousin Ardie Faye Custard.
Brenda is preceded in death by her husband Edward Jefferson, both parents Betty Lee and Curtis Paul Buggs, her brothers Michael “Kenny” Buggs and Charles Buggs, her sisters Gloria “Dean” Hamplton, Karen Ann Saterfield, and Marcia Barrow.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories; her son Robert Lee Wiley, daughter Dineka Mason; sisters Sandra Buggs, and Janice Smith; grandchildren Deva Harris, Janice ‘Yammie’ Wiley, Tramayne Shivers, Zaidyn Shivers; great-grandchildren Akiyah Harris and the baby of the bunch, Nia Wiley. She also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, god-kids, and friends.
Brenda was a loving strong woman in her essence and was a beautiful gift to us all. She had a kind heart and a genuine spirit. Her family meant more to her than words can describe. Brenda is irreplaceable. She left a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever. Her intermet will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Rolling Hills Cemetery, 4100 Hilltop Dr, Richmond, California 94803-1720.
