David Lorenzo Autrey

Mr. David Lorenzo Autrey, age 68, of Richmond, CA passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022. He was born on August 1, 1953, to the proud parents of David Lee Autrey and Emma Mae Glover Autrey, on the Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL.

Raised in a military family, David attended church and confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. David received his early education by attending Jenks Jr. High School in Panama City and Gainesville High School in Gainesville, FL. As a young man, David loved traveling with his father, fishing, and crabbing, and also, had a love for baseball.

After leaving FL and migrating to CA, David was blessed to become a father to two beautiful children; a daughter Shawna Autrey and a son, Donald Clements.

Along his life journey, David met his long-time partner Yvonne Dixon and became a father figure to her son Kamani Mosley. For David and Yvonne, it was very important to them that they worked together as a family and being a team. Some of the things they really enjoyed together were barbecuing, watching different sports, and just having fun.

David provided for his family by working in the recycling and janitorial fields for Denny's and Red Dot Recycling. Later on, he would become an independent entrepreneur in recycling. Having a love for his community, David was an avid volunteer with the New Gethsemane Church of God In Christ in Richmond, CA as a Food Distributor for their feeding program. He found joy in serving others.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:4

David was preceded in death by his father, one sister, seven uncles, and four aunts.

To continue to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Emma Mae Harley, life-long partner, Yvonne Dixon; his children, Shawna Autrey and Donald Clements; a sister Toni Lewis; a brother, James Autrey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
