

Ms. Edna Classie Preston was born on July 19, 1949 in Martinez, CA, to the late Mr. Richard Wade, Isabella (Wade) Gordon and Mack L. Gordon who preceded her in death.
Edna accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, at an early age, uniting with Ephesians of Richmond COGIC for 56 years,under the leadership of the late Supt. Jack Paul Spicer, following by his grandson, Supt. Louis B. Spicer, Jr. In 2017, she united with Greater Love Ministries Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor Kellis B. Love, Sr. and now, Pastor Matthew J. Levy.
She was a loving and faithful member who served in several capacities in ministry such as, Sunday School Teacher, Sunshine Band, Y. P. W. W., Bible Band Secretary, Hospitality, and Program Coordinator for 62 years combined.
Edna received her early education in the Richmond area and graduated from Richmond Union High School. She continued her education at San Francisco State University and received B.A. in Administration, as well as, a postgraduate Master’s Degree, and teaching credentials.
Truly Edna was gifted in the art of delivering knowledge, to a variety of students from all settings and enjoyed working with each of them.
After teaching for many years, she retired but, continued working part-time, as a department store cashier whilst serving in ministry.
Edna met and married the late Robert (Bob) Preston, Sr. No children were born to this union; however, she and Bob’s sons later came together, to help care for him until his death.
Edna loved her family, and even assisted in raising some of her nieces and nephews.
She leaves to cherish her memories; two sisters – Virginia Hudson of richmond, CA and Maxine Sims of Hanford, CA.; one brother, Leonard D. (Sara) Gordon of Richmond, CA; three nieces, Trenna Robinson and Sheila Blake of Hanford, CA, and Khadija Gordon of Richmond, CA; four nephews, Leonard D. Gordon, Jr. and Dan Gordon of Richmond, CA., as well as, La Mont, Jr. and Lance Penbrook of Hanford, CA; two special god-daughters, Elizabeth (Liz) Evans and Teasa Thompson; two special god-sons, Robert Preston and Kellis Love, Jr.; great nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives, church family, and dear friends.

A Public Viewing for Edna will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fuller Funerals, Inc, 3100 Cutting Blvd in Richmond, CA 94804. A Celebration of Her Life will occur Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church, 2830 May Rd in El Sobrante, CA.
Edna will be laid to rest in Rolling Hills Memorial Park, 4100 Hilltop Dr, Richmond, CA 94803.
