Mildred H. Blackmon

Mildred Richardson Houston-Blackmon was born 11/4/1940 to Palace and Lawrence Richardson in Elaine Arkansas. Her parents preceded her in death. Mildred was the fourth of eleven children. She was raised in Louisiana and then moved to Los Angeles, California in 1960. She relocated to Richmond Ca in 1963. Mildred had six children (3 boys & 3 girls). She met her life mate Chester Blackmon in 1975 and they later married July 9 1985.

Mildred was known and loved by many. She was an Angel to the community and opened her arms to all. She was still respected as a baseball Queen and mom in the community. She was an amazing mother and wife. She was an awesome cook. Oh how we will miss her greens, sweet potato pies and Carmel cakes. She accepted Christ and was baptized at Shilake Church in Tensas Parish LA by the late Rev Johnny Henderson at the young age of 15. She had a home remedy for any ailment- “Just put some Dr Tichenor’s on it/in it”. She was a faithful member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church for over 20 years, where she served as an Usher and in the choir. She retired from Roche Molecular Systems Inc in 2006. She forever had a beautiful smile that would just light up the room.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband Chester Blackmon. Brothers: Robert (RB) Burns Richardson, Lee (LC) Charles Richardson. Sisters: Claudia Simpson, Panilla (Tee Tee) Wallace and Blanche (Toni) Dorsey. Children: Palace Pollard (Joe), Otis Jr, Diana, Patricia, Melvin and Ervin Houston. Daughter-In- Laws: Alicia, Glennell and Gretchen. Step Children: Pamela Williams, Chester Ray Blackmon, Jimmy Williams. Grandchildren: Patricia Wright, Ronesha Williams, Ronald Williams, Tashianna Williams, Ashley Cherry, Monique Houston, Otis Houston III, Quaina Houston, Leandra Houston, Rico Patton Jr, Charisse Patton, Shante Patton, Devin Houston, Melvin Houston Jr, Xavier Houston, Jontae Houston, Jared Houston, Brandon Houston, Amera Houston, Ajay Houston, Brittany Houston, Vanae Houston, Ervin Houston Jr, Monet Houston, Monique Mc Morris, Arlynda (Shorty) Guidry, Pamela Blackmon, Cicely Blackmon, Adrinne Blackmon, Chelsey Blackmon, Leonard Blackmon, Lenard Blackmon, Ella Blackmon.
