

Raymond Daniel Young COLONEL - USAF RET Passed away August 29, 2010, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Ray was born and raised in San Francisco and graduated from Mission High School in 1941. Shortly thereafter, he joined the US Army Air Corp as an Aviation Cadet and launched what would be a 32 year career in the Air Force. Ray served in WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for exceptional airmanship during several of his 101 combat missions. Ray retired from the Air Force in 1974 and moved his family to Novato where he lived and played until the time of his death at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Ann Young, and is survived by his four children; Christine (Nacke) and son-in-law Alan, Vickie (Gamber) and son-in-law Michael, Erin (Cilia) and son-in-law Joe, Kelly and daughter-in-law JoAnna, and many grandchildren and one great grandchild. Ray will be remembered for his love of family/friends, his generous heart, and true zest for life.
