He is preceded in death by his mother, Veda Maureen, and his younger brother, Gary David. He is survived by his children, Cassidy Veda Macklin and Ryan Andrew Macklin. He is also survived by his father, Roy Edward Macklin, his brother Stephen Roy Macklin, and his sister Carole Anne (Macklin) Gearing, as well as nieces, Becky Crawley, Jo Gearing, and Vicki Wain-Heapy, nephews Dan Boswell and Jamie Gearing, as well as six great-nieces, four great-nephews, and two great-great-nephews.
Andy began his career with Sun Alliance Insurance in Horsham, U.K. at age 16 and went on to work in a number of IT Project Management capacities over the years, consulting in London, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, and Australia. He was highly successful due to his intuition, intelligence, and direct approach to people and problem-solving. Andy cared deeply about his team members and worked countless hours, often late into the night and on weekends to get the job done. From 2005-2007, he worked for Markel Insurance in Richmond. After that time, he purchased and managed a few properties in the Richmond area.
More than anything, Andy loved his children, Cassidy and Ryan. He coached Ryan’s soccer team for many years and spent countless hours with Ryan on the golf course. He shared his business insights with Cassidy and imparted to her a love of critical thinking and an entrepreneurial spirit. Andy’s passions were soccer, rugby, and golf, which he played in younger years and watched enthusiastically later on. Despite a fear of heights, he also loved skiing and the mountains and was proud of his bungee-jump from a cable car in Switzerland. Andy loved socializing and debating on any number of topics and will be remembered for his roguish sense of humor. He loved visits to his friends’ lake house and fishing in the early morning hours. His black lab Yo-yo held a special place in Andy's heart. He loved taking him on walks around Raintree with the kids and feeding him bits of human food.
Andy’s children will be carrying his ashes back to England, where they will be placed in the Garden of Remembrance at St. Margaret’s Church in Warnham to be close to his mother and younger brother.
