Charles Glenn Hubbard, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 4, 2019. He was born in Richmond, Va., and was the son of Eula and Charles Hubbard. He was part of the old Hermitage High School, Class of 1955. He worked for Atlantic Life Insurance Company, Safway Steel Products, and was self-employed in several businesses as a salesman and erection specialist for bleachers and scaffolding. He was in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1958 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 6364. He loved to visit there and try his luck and sit on the “Corner of Knowledge” with his Comrades. He is survived by his loving dog companion, “Debo,” who would ride on his scooter with him and was his best buddy; his daughter, Johanna “Jodi” Hubbard McLaughlin and her two children, Glenn McLaughlin and Kelsey McLaughlin; his son, Derek Glenn Hubbard; and daughter, Alisa Hubbard Snyder and her husband, Marty, and their children, Grace Snyder, Anna Snyder and Jake Snyder; his niece, DeAnne Hubbard; and nephew, Scott Hubbard. Glenn was fondly known as “Hub” by many of his friends. He was always kindhearted, had a hysterical sense of humor, occasionally liking to stir the pot and knew how to fix anything. He loved watching his NASCAR races and rooting for his driver in the race pool. He was always a wonderful father and the backbone of his family. He was brave, determined and strong. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars 6364, 6502 Dickens Place, to celebrate his birthday.
