Clifton Conway Nuckols

NUCKOLS, Clifton Conway, age 93, passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2011. Mr. Nuckols was born on April 7, 1918 to the late Linton and Jennie Nuckols of Goochland, Va. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters, two nephews and one niece. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Moseley Nuckols; his daughters, Brenda Pleasants, Betty Meador and her husband, Mickey, and Robin Cole and her husband, Andy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sherry Fones and her husband, Scott, Scott Meador and his wife, Mindy, Lindsay Cole and Rachel Cole; and the lights of his life, his great- grandchildren, Faith Fones and Brandon Meador. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors; and a very special cousin whom he loved like a brother, Dayton Richmond and his wife, Lela. He was a member of the "Greatest Generation," having served his country during World War II in the United States Army, 80th Division, Third Army, under General George Patton. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and played a part in the liberation of Buchenwald. He was employed by VEPCO now known as Dominion Virginia Power for over 40 years. He was a longtime member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and served in many capacities including deacon and as a trustee of the church for over 50 years. Visitation will be held at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 11220 Nuckols Rd., Glen Allen, Va. on December 28, 2011 at 11 a.m. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Avenue, Richmond. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in his memory to Mount Vernon Baptist Church 11220 Nuckols Rd., Glen Allen, Va., 23059. He loved God, his family and his country. His was a life well lived.
