Davis "Day" Wills Jordan Jr.

Davis (Day) Wills Jordan Jr., 97, of Richmond VA passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014. He was born to the late Davis Wills Jordan and wife Anne McMaster Freeman Jordan on August 13, 1916 in Virginia. Davis attended Maury High School, was a WWII Navy veteran, and was the owner of Jordan Distributing Corporation for 35 years. He was a long-time member of St Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, VA.

Davis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary Haward (Hay) Jordan, his parents, and his sister, Molly Jordan. He is survived by his children Mary Pender Jordan Wyatt (Missy) of Richmond and Davis Wills Jordan III and his wife, Yvonne Elaine Taylor Jordan of Charleston, SC. In addition to his children, he is survived by his 4 grandchildren, Michael Jordan (Starr) of Charleston, SC, Matthew Jordan (Holly) of Fishers, IN, Kate Wyatt Blackwell (Jason) of Richmond, and Brooke Wyatt Van Rensselaer (Tyler) of Brevard, NC, 6 great-grandchildren and several foster great-grandchildren.

Davis was an avid tennis player all his life, a charter member of Kanawha Recreation Association. He also served on the PTA at Tuckahoe Elementary School. He loved to surf cast on the Outer Banks and in retirement, he and his loving wife traveled to Sarasota, FL for the winter months.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 16 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel. A memorial service is being held at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, June 17 at 11:00am, Internment will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
