Dorothy Hood Trainum

TRAINUM, Dorothy Hood, 95, went to be with the Lord on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2019. She was the widow of George E. Trainum, Jr. and was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Hood, Jr. and Agnes Edgar Hood; brothers, Horace III, Elmore, Milton, and Kenneth; and sisters, Lucille Middleton and Helen Hood. She is survived by her five children, Ed (Dana), James (Diana), David (Peggy), Martha Nichols (John), and Mary Adams (Sean); 12 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Besides raising her children, she was active in Lakeside Presbyterian Church and was a life member of Presbyterian Women. She served in several church roles including compiling the church history. Her community service included volunteering with Henrico County Schools and the PTA for many years.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, VA 23229. Funeral services will be Friday, May 17 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Westhampton Memorial Park.

Dorothy wished to convey her special thanks to the staff at Imperial Plaza Assisted Living for their kind attention during her final months. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 7343 Hermitage Rd, Richmond VA 23228.
