

Edward Payson Jones, III, 83, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014. His beloved wife, Nancy Randolph Petitt Jones, predeceased him in 1990 after 38 loving years of marriage. Born in New Rochelle, N.Y., he moved to Virginia in 1948 to attend Randolph-Macon College. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, he graduated from the College of William & Mary and had a career with C&P Telephone Company. He and his wife were blessed with four children; Esther Jones Myers and her husband, Carter, George Matthew Jones (deceased), D. Ward Jones and his wife, Jennifer and daughter, Amy R. Lambert and her husband, Steve. Also surviving him are seven grandchildren, Eric Myers, Melissa Myers Stover, Lindsey, Matt and Chris Lambert and Shelby and Jake Jones; four great-grandchildren, Lily and Abby Myers, Sawyer and Miriam Stover. He volunteered with St. Mary's Hospital for 17 years, Make-A-Wish for three years and ASK beginning in 1995. The loves of his life were God, who loved him anyway, his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and volunteering. Instead of flowers, it has been requested that donations be made to ASK (ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 17184, Richmond, Va 23226 or the St. Mary's Hospital Good Samaritan Fund, c/o Bon Secours St. Mary's, 5801 Bremo Road, Richmond, Va 23226. The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Burial will be private.
