Ed was born in Richmond, Virginia, to Cornelius Minor Stowe and Annie Ivernia “Ivy” Stowe, who preceded him in death. A lifelong resident of Richmond, he built his life in the community he knew and loved, forming lasting relationships and quietly leaving a meaningful impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Elizabeth “Beth” Letien Stowe, who passed just weeks before him on February 7, 2026, as well as his cherished daughter, Melanie Stowe Wielar. Ed’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, Drake Wielar and Grace Wielar, who knew him lovingly as “PopPop.” He took immense pride in being their grandfather and found deep happiness in attending their graduations, school events, and sporting activities.
Ed is survived by his brother, Troy Stowe, who gave countless hours of love and devotion supporting Ed and Beth throughout their final year; his brother-in-law, Billy Letien; his nieces and nephews, Missy Vandenesse, Nick Stowe, and Karey Kirby; along with extended family members and many dear friends.
He spent his entire career in masonry and was widely respected as one of the most talented masonry estimators in Richmond. Known for his steady presence and strong work ethic, Ed approached his profession with the same dedication that defined all aspects of his life.
Those who knew Ed will remember him for his patience, kindness, and sincerity. He was a man who never knew an enemy, and people felt calm, heard, and accepted in his presence. He loved steadfastly and fiercely, embodying what it means to be a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Ed found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—sitting on the beach, enjoying a martini with olives, cheering on UVA sports, and his lifelong love of cars. His favorite place was on the sand at his home in Virginia Beach, where he spent countless meaningful moments with family and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown during this time.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Woody Funeral Home – Parham, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23229, followed by a graveside service at Westhampton Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Ed’s steady love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
