Evelyn Razelle Stone Morris (“Rae”), passed away in Richmond on January 12, 2021 at the age of 103. She was the last survivor of eight children born to Mary Ellen Hatchett and Joseph R. Stone on their tobacco farm in Cody, Virginia. She was the loving wife of the late, James C. (“Jimmy”) Morris for over 61 years and the beloved mother of three children, all of whom survive her: Malcolm Morris and his wife, Mary, of New York, NY; Fred Morris and his wife, Janet, of St. George, UT; and Paula Johnson and her husband, Dan, of Richmond. She is also survived by seven grandchildren who adored her, Bruce Morris of Hong Kong; Alissa Torres of Odenton, MD; David Morris of Lebanon, NJ; Michael Morris of New York, NY; Ian Johnson of Richmond; Kasey Archer of Zurich, Switzerland; and Wesley Johnson of Richmond; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Russell (“Eva”) Stone of Lynchburg; and Mrs. Gordon (“Marion”) Stone of Morehead, City, NC, and many nieces and nephews. Rae was a loyal member of Northminster Baptist Church and its Alpha Class for over 60 years, a Cub Scout den mother and a loyal and active participant in many P.T.A.'s. She loved to sew, play bridge, travel to the beach and visit her far-flung family who will deeply miss her. The family wishes to express its appreciation to the caregivers and other staff members of Lakewood retirement center who worked to provide her a warm and friendly home and attentive care over the past eleven plus years. Internment will be private at Westhampton Memorial Park with a celebration of life to be held later in the year. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that expressions of sympathy be made by contributions to the LAMB's Basket, a food pantry serving needy families in Henrico County at P.O. Box 3064, Henrico, VA 23228.
