

King, Henry Hobson. 86 of Richmond VA, died February 19. 2015. He was predeceased by his wife Bertha Cosby King, his parents Linville and Henry King, his sister Mary King and his four-legged pets who adored him.
He is survived by his brother Taylor King and his children Sally King-Gilreath (Rick), Kathy Brewer and Henry King (Sue); grandchildren Sarah and Ryan Gilreath, Daniel (Beth), Matt and Adam Brewer and Lindsay Metzger (Craig) and Virginia King.
Hobson graduated from John Marshall HS in 1945 and attended the University of Richmond briefly before enlisting in the Army Air Corp in 1946. He flew fighter jets before he was old enough to vote. He re-enrolled in the University of Richmond where he met his wife-to-be in Chemistry class.
Education was once more interrupted by years of military service when he was recalled for the Korean War. Hobson received his BS in Chemical Engineering from VPI in 1958 and an MBA from So. Illinois Univ Edwardsville in 1977. His engineering career took him and his family to International Paper in Georgetown, SC, Union Camp in Franklin, VA and Mobil Chemical/Albright & Wilson in both Richmond, VA and Charleston, SC, where he was the plant manager. Hobson was a Registered Professional Engineer in Virginia, South Carolina and Tennessee. Upon retirement from A&W, he operated an environmental engineering consulting business for several years.
Hobson retired from the the Va. Air National Guard as a Lt. Colonel in 1972. He was a member of the P-47 Thunderbolt Pilots Association, the P-51 Mustang Pilots Association and the F-86 Sabre Pilots Association. He was also a member of Theta Chi Fraternity (UR) and was a long time member of Reveille United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter, a voracious reader and a great photographer. Hobson loved to travel and took many trips with Bertha all over the world. Hobson & Bertha's favorite places included Scotland, France and Russia, where he went to bear hunt. He enjoyed a tremendous life, filled with many adventures. He is now reunited in eternal life with his one love, Bertha. The family will celebrate his life at his home on Saturday Feb 28, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad.
