

He graduated from Virginia Military Institute, class of 1953 with a degree
in electrical engineering. Following graduation, he served in the Army as a
First Lieutenant. Following his military service, after a short stint
managing his family's business, Herold began a very successful 35 year
career as an investment broker with Scott & Stringfellow.
Herold is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Ellen; his children:
Deborah Hofheimer (Robin Gelman), Louis Hofheimer, David Hofheimer and
grandson, Michael Hofheimer, brother-in-law, John B. Lewis and sister-in-law,
Jane Dribbon; his step-children: Mark Seidenberg (Betty Gray), Paul
Seidenberg (Rebecca), and Karen Chaulklin (Sean). He is also survived by his
step-grandchildren: Sydney and Haylee Seidenberg, Claire, Jack, and Phillip
Seidenberg, and Jordan and Brenden Chaulklin, as well as by numerous
nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Herold will be remembered
for his quiet, gentle manner. He gave to his community without any desire for
recognition. The family would like to thank his caregivers and staff who cared for him at
home, at Cedarfield, and especially Nancy Capocy with Hospice Community Care
who gave him extra special care in his final years. Their dedication and caring are
greatly appreciated.
A funeral service will be held at Woody's Chapel located at
1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, Virginia, July 23, 2014 at 11:00am. In
lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Congregation
Or Ami, Refurbishment Fund, 9400 Huguenot Road, Richmond, Virginia 23235,
to the VMI Foundation, Herold Hofheimer Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 932,
Lexington, Virginia 24450 or to a charity of your choice.
