

He was a graduate of New Kent High School and the U. S. Military Academy, and trained as a pilot in the U. S. Army. Returning to Richmond, he worked in sales as a stock and business broker, and in pharmaceutical sales. Later, he joined his brother, Wayne, in a long career as a cab driver with Veterans Cab. He enjoyed watching football and running marathons.
He married Nancy Taylor of New Kent, in 1959 and together they raised three children. He was preceded in death by his son Hugh Taylor Renalds (1988) and his brothers Wayne and Kent.
He is survived by his son, Patrick (Joan) of Bothell, WA, and daughter, Jennifer Nannette “Nan” Carneal, of Richmond; by two grandchildren, Joey Renalds and Christina Ramsey (Sam); and by three great-granddaughters, Lacy, Riley and Carly Ramsey. He is also survived by siblings Stephen Renalds of Fairfield, VA; Julianna Woodson of Kearneysville, WV; Elsie Newcomer of Taylors, SC; Janet Ramsey of Richmond and Anita Barnett of Highland Springs, VA.
Visitation with the family will be Friday, January 13, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Woody Funeral Home – Parham Chapel, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, VA, followed by a service in the Chapel at noon. A graveside service will be held at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery, 6700 Emmaus Church Rd., Providence Forge, VA at 3:00 PM.
