

JACK A. JOHNSON, a lifelong resident of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on January 20, 1943, in Richmond, he remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped his life.
Jack graduated from John Marshall High School in 1961 and went on to attend the University of Richmond. His commitment to education and personal growth was evident throughout his life. He was a member of the John Marshall cadets Alumni Band and performed with them for many years. Jack was also an award winning life insurance agent throughout his adult life.
A devoted member of Second Baptist Church, Jack served faithfully in many roles over the years. He was a deacon and usher, welcomed new members as the church photographer, and participated actively in the Second Shepards Sunday School Class. His dedication to his faith and church community was a cornerstone of his life.
Jack shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jennifer “Ginger” Johnson. Together they built a strong and loving family that continues to carry forward their legacy.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Jack Jr. “Jay” and his wife Lisa; daughter Dian Paulin; and son Joseph S. Johnson and his wife Carrie.
Jack’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Ashley Carter (Matt), Brittany McDonald (Todd), Courtney Simms (Corey), Darcy Gain (Christian), Jessica Stowers (D.J.), Taylor Holmes (Walker), Joseph Riley Johnson (Charlotte), Tyler Jacob Paulin, Justin Evans (Keely), Jeremy Evans (Michaela), and Jacob Evans (Alexia).
He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Elijah, Caroline, Cynthia, Lucy, Lorelei, Lane, Webb, Liam, Henry, Sunny, Phoebe, Griffin—and one more expected in April.
Jack was preceded in death by his father John Richard Johnson Sr., mother Lula Miriam Alston, and sister Sarah Lucretia.
His life was marked by devotion—to faith, to family, and to service. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all whose lives he touched. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Second Baptist Church 9614 River Road. Reception to follow
