April 22, 1953 – March 9, 2026
Janice Mae Parrish, 72, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on March 9, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie Beatrice Lenz Blake and Edward Louis Lenz.
Janice is survived by her devoted husband, James Dudley Parrish, Jr., with whom she shared many wonderful years of marriage. She is also survived by her loving children, Christopher Edward Beach (Alfreda) and Melanie Elaine Beach.
She leaves behind her beloved sister, Phyllis Wood (Terry) and nephew, Bryan Wood (Edie).
Janice was a proud and adoring grandmother, affectionately known as Gran Jan, to her four grandsons—Chris, Lewis, Hank, and Lane Beach, who brought her immense joy and were the pride of her life as she loved watching them on the field/court and celebrating their accomplishments.
She also leaves behind her cherished dog, Yeti, and grand-dog, Kiba, who were constant companions.
In her earlier years, Janice worked as an award-winning floral designer, sharing her creativity and love of beauty with others. When not at the flower shop, she could be found sitting in the bleachers cheering on her son at sporting events or watching her daughter perform in an auditorium, always supporting her children and those she loved.
Janice and her husband Dudley especially loved traveling together and creating lasting memories along the way.
A viewing will be held from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, at Woody Funeral Home – Parham Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janice’s memory to the Fatherhood Foundation of Virginia.
Janice never met a stranger. She greeted everyone with kindness, offered a warm word when it was needed most, and did everything with a smile. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
