Joseph was a World War II Navy Veteran and after becoming an accountant, He retired in 1978 as a government civil servant from the Dept. of HUD. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes; and Grove Ave. Baptist Church. He belonged to Knights of Columbus; member of General Accounting Service; member of Korea Military Advisory Group.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Cynthia Rizzo, three children: Bruce C. Rizzo, Douglas L. Rizzo, Jennifer L. Rizzo, four grandchildren; Jacob K. Rizzo, Joseph P. Rizzo, Lauren M. Rizzo, Joaquin D. Tangonan. Two sisters; Helen Rizzo, Phyllis Rizzo
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 11:00am to 11:50am with a funeral service starting at 12:00 noon at the Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. Richmond, VA. Interment following at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
