Margaret Foote Snead

Margaret Harriet Foote Snead passed away peacefully at her home in Midlothian, Virginia, on November 8, 2015. She was born October 14, 1930 in Richmond, Virginia, to James Hensley Foote and Eleanor West Foote. Margie, as she was known, was a devoted mother of four children and proud grandmother of nine grandchildren. Margie attended Thomas Jefferson High School and Virginia Tech, Class of 1950. Fiercely loyal to her Virginia Tech Hokies, she served in several capacities with the Virginia Tech Richmond Alumni Chapter. She also maintained a life long association with the TJ Lunch Bunch. Margie Snead was preceded in death by both parents, and her husband of 57 years, John Winfield Snead, Sr. of McKinney, Va. She is survived by her four children and nine grandchildren: daughter Margaret Snead Munnelly, husband Bud Munnelly and grandson Chris Munnelly of Winston Salem, NC; daughter Roberta Snead Russell of Blacksburg, VA, grandchildren Amy Russell of Reston, VA, and Travis Russell of Mesa, AZ; daughter Janine Snead Hiller, husband Richard Hiller of Blacksburg, VA, grandchildren Shannon Hiller of DC, Erin Hiller of Copley, OH, and Daniel Hiller of Princeton, NJ; son John W. Snead, Jr, wife Sandra Snead, and grandchildren Jake Snead, Josh Snead and Nicholas Snead of Bethlehem, PA; as well as numerous cousins and family members throughout the Richmond Area. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday November 10 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 North Parham Road. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 11 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 8787 River Road. Interment follows at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilot Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John W. and Margaret F. Snead Memorial Scholarship Fund. Donations should be made payable to Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc., with designation to the fund, and sent to Virginia Tech University Development (0336), 902 Prices Fork Road, Blacksburg, VA 24061.
