

Buchanan, Martha Mendelson, 63, departed this life on August 3, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Martha was born in Alexandria, VA to the late Howard Barnard Mendelson and Gladys LaVera Mendelson. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Donald Wade Buchanan: one daughter, LaVera Buchanan Coleman, and her husband John; 2 precious grandsons, Brady Chandler and Taylor Harden Coleman. She is also survived by two sisters, Ellen Mendelson, Leigh Bondurant, widow of, Frank Bondurant; niece, Amy Goecker and husband Doug; nephews, Frank Bondurant, Jr. “Chip” and wife Audrey, Jamie Bondurant; three great nieces, Jessica, Molly and Sadie.
Martha was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandsons. She also adored her Westie, Henry. She lived life to the fullest and never took it for granted. Martha was a fighter and fought lung cancer for 4 ½ long years. She will be dearly missed by all that loved her.
