

She is survived by her children, Allen Lee Walters and Elizabeth Walters Brown, her grandchildren, David Allen Brown and Katherine Elizabeth Brown, and son in law, Scott Matthew Brown, who will all forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Harvey Walters, Jr.
She was a graduate of Mary Washington College. She previously worked at the Medical College of Virginia as a hemopathologist.
Her greatest accomplishment was her commitment to volunteering. She served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, a Boy Scout Adult Leader, Meals on Wheels Volunteer, and Lee's Friends Volunteer.
She was an active member in the Daughters of the American Revolution where she served as a past Regent and Virginia State Officer, the National Society Daughters of the American Colonies and the National Society of Colonial Dames.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Woody Funeral Home 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond, from 2:00-6:00 pm. A service to celebrate her life will be held at River Road Church, Baptist Monday, March 9, 2026 at 8000 River Rd, Richmond starting at 11:00 am. Please park in the church’s South Parking lot across from the church’s front entrance on River Road. The services may be viewed live or at your convenience on the church’s YouTube at rrcb.org/maryjanewalters. A brief graveside service will be held at Westhampton Memorial & Cremation Park, 10000 Patterson Ave, Richmond at 12:00 noon
