

Pat was well known for her generosity, philanthropy, and devotion to the Lord’s work. Pat began her mission work in Richmond in 1956 as a Sunday School teacher. She served in training and leadership roles within the United Methodist Church serving as Chairman District Board of Children’s Ministries, President of the United Methodist Women, Richmond District Lay Leader, Virginia General Assembly United Methodist Conference Legislative Network, Member to Virginia Annual Conference, Delegate to United Methodist Southern Jurisdictional Conference, Delegate to the United Methodist General Conference and serving on the Board of Trustees for Ferrum College.
Pat and her husband were involved in mission trips over several years to the Edisto Natchez-Kusso Tribe of South Carolina and to the people in the Commonwealth of Dominica in the Caribbean Sea. During his time they improved lives by working on building projects for homes and churches.
She is preceded by her husband, Olin Randall Compton, and is survived by her children Randall Compton Heise and husband Steve, Olin Bryan Compton and wife Elizabeth, Lisa Adrienne Sawyer and husband Steve, Barry Christopher Compton and wife Terry, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on February 1, 2025 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, Glen Allen.
