Rita Teresa Carney

Rita Teresa (Reber) Carney of Richmond VA, formerly of East Aurora, NY passed away peacefully at August Healthcare at Richmond on September 15, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband John (Jack) O. Carney, her parents, Raymond Reber and Irene (Schur) Reber, her brother Raymond Reber and her son John T. Carney.

Rita was born in Rochester NY. She graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing both in Rochester. She was a devoted loving wife and mother, a compassionate woman disposed to cheering up everyone. Always put others first and was loved by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed knitting, bingo, playing cards and family Thanksgivings.

Rita is survived by her five children Scott, Steven, Jeffrey, Mary Reese and Carol Ballance; her eight grandchildren Jill Holcomb, Michael, Kristin Martinez, David, Richard Majeski, Shannon Majeski, Melvin Reese and Alicia Reese; and 7 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Visitation will be taking place on Sunday, September 29th at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Rd, Midlothian, VA 23113, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Furthermore a Visitation will be taking place on Monday September 30th at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, starting at 10:00 am. Followed by a Funeral Service at Woody Funeral Home Huguenot Chapel, starting at 11:30 am. Lastly to conclude services, a Graveside Service will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd, Amelia Court House, VA 23002, and start at 2:00 pm.
