

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Elizabeth “Lisa” Grignol; and sister Donna. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Wanetta “Nita” Grignol, his four children Ronald Grignol Jr (Mami), Gary Grignol (Joanne), Lisa Smith (Steve) and Jeffrey Grignol; five grandchildren Jenna, Melissa, Ryan, Julianne, and Cassandra; four great-grandchildren Mateo, Evie, Liliana, and Kilian; brother Lewis Grignol and many nieces and nephews.
Ron grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania with his large extended family and graduated from Gannon University. Ron met his wife, Nita, in Erie prior to joining the military.
Ron served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired a Lt. Colonel, followed by a decades long career with the State of Virginia as a Sr. Auditor for both the Departments of Social Services and Corrections. In retirement, Ron worked part-time for Jackson Hewitt preparing taxes.
Ron also used his talents to volunteer as the president of Housing Opportunity Inc. (HOI). HOI is a non-profit organization that provides housing opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities who are eligible for the services of the Henrico Mental Health and Development Services in Henrico, Va. Ron was a 42 year member of the Knights of Columbus 395. In addition, he served many roles (vice president, president, and treasurer) for the Columbian Center.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Monday, November 11 at St. Michael Catholic Church at 4491 Springfield Rd, Glen Allen, VA. Visitation will be held 4-7pm on Sunday November 10th at Woody Funeral Home at 1771 N. Parham Rd, Richmond, Va, and one hour prior to the funeral service.
