

preceded in death by his parents, Arthur D. and Helen W. Lyles, and his brother, Dean M. Lyles.
Survivors include his Aunt, Mary Ann Faircloth of West Columbia, S.C., his Aunt, Dorothy
Weston of Orangeburg, S.C., and many cousins. Mr. Lyles was a graduate of Douglas Freeman
High School and a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University earning a B.S. degree in
Business Administration. His career began as a buyer for men’s shoes at Thalhimer’s
Department Store, and continued for more than forty years working with S&K Menswear and
more recently with Saxon Shoes. Due to his friendly demeanor, gregarious and outgoing
personality, Mr. Lyles was a favorite among his many loyal customers and colleagues. He had
a hearty laugh, a jovial disposition and a positive attitude. Therefore, he was a good friend to
many people.
The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 6 pm on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Parham
Chapel of Woody’s Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1771 N. Parham Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made on his behalf to Tuckahoe Volunteer
Rescue Squad, 1101 Horsepen Road, Richmond, VA. 23229.
