Ronnie “Ron” William Brown, 70, passed from this life into eternal life with his Lord on January 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Artis Brown and mother, Adrienne “Drene” Dorman Brown. Ron is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda; their children, Alice Kelly (Patrick), Andrew Brown, and Greg Brown; his grandchildren who were his pride and joy, John Kelly, Hunter Womble, Faith Kelly, Ethan Womble, McKenzie Brown, Harmony Owens, Madison Brown, and Noah Brown; his sisters, Sherry Cowart, and Nancy Penney (Junior); his beloved uncle, G.B “Buddy” Dorman; his aunt, Lamara Lewis; nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; and numerous cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces. Ron was born in Mobile, Alabama on May 6, 1949 to William “Bill” Artis Brown and Adrienne “Drene” Dorman Brown. After graduation from Coral Park High School, he attended Miami-Dade Community College in Miami, Florida and San Jacinto Community College in Houston, Texas with a focus in Business. Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1969 to serve his country during the Vietnam War as a radio operator, stationed in South Korea, Japan, and Hawaii. After reenlistment he cross-trained into Computer Repair/Maintenance. He met Linda, his future wife, during his Basic Electronics Class in 1973. After completion of his training he was assigned to MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida. On August 16, 1974 Ron and Linda were married in Claysville, Pennsylvania. After the birth of their first child, Alice, they were stationed in Colorado near Denver. While in Colorado their second child, Andrew, and their third child, Greg, were born. Ron served his country for 9 ½ years. Ron worked for Memorex and EMC Corporation as a Senior Customer Engineer after his military career and made family moves to Texas, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Growing up in Miami, Florida, he acquired a passion for everything cars including rebuilding an engine in his bedroom; this led to his love for NASCAR and creating memories with his sons and brother-in-law at many races. He was a lifelong, die-hard Miami Dolphins fan and enjoyed discussing football with anybody. He took great pleasure in eating a good BBQ sandwich, especially from Shorty’s in South Miami. Another one of his passions was bowling and he was great at it. He was involved in the Youth Bowling League and taught many to bowl, including his children. He shared that passion with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them bowl. He bowled in the American Bowling Congress Tournament for 29 consecutive years in cities all across the country where he met his lifelong friends from Wisconsin. Ron had a great sense of humor, was a prankster, and loved to play jokes. He was a very special person who had an impact on many lives and was loved in return. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Ron and Linda’s church, Glen Allen Church of Christ, 11064 Staples Mill Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23060. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m. with military honors.
