I was stunned to learn of Tom’s passing. 

We grew up together in the same neighborhood and went to Heywood, Van Cleve, and then Troy High School class of 1976. Our mothers were very close friends, so the Dixon and McConnell families go way back. 

I send my love and sympathy to Tom’s family, with an extra prayer for his mom, the  wonderful Mrs. Ronnie Dixon.  May God bless all of you.

Ann and Will,
I am at a loss for words.  You have been wonderful neighbors for many years.  Our children grew up together -- so many memories.  Tom's passing is such sad news.  He was always there to lend a helping hand.  My love and prayers go out to you and all of your family and I am here  if you need me.  



Tom's medical emergency happened in my office. I called 911 and waited with him. As soon as I hung up, Tom asked me to call his wife, Ann. His next request was to call his supervisor. He was always thinking of others and trying to help and make a difference. Tom told me I was handling things well and doing a good job. In the middle of his medical distress, he took the time to reassure me. That's the kind of selfless character Tom had. My heartfelt sympathy to Tom's family, friends and colleagues. I know he will be missed and remembered. Rest well, Tom.

To family, I’m at a lost for words for the lost of Tom.  It surely was a shock to all all of us at Henrico County that new Tom and who worked closely with him. May the Lord bless his wife Ann his son Will and  extended family during this tough time, I will miss him as well as all of us at Henrico County. Tom was a good man.      Mike Maxey

Tom was a good man and a great friend. We are all less for the loss of him. He was so proud of Will and so in love with Ann.

There are no words to help at times like these - the loss is too great to imagine. 

Tom was an amazing person.  He was so kind, thoughtful, and friendly. He made a point to know all of us, and we learned about all of you.  Ann, he glowed when he talked about you, how lucky he was to have you as his partner through this life.   Will, he was so very proud of you, through high school, college and as you landed your job.  He shared his joy at your successes and his pride in you.  Working in IT, like General Services, there's always issues to deal with.  No matter what was needed, Tom was always there to help with a ready smile, great patience, true optimism. He never complained, always laughed, and I will carry his spirit with me forever.   We worked so many projects early morning, even holidays, and he just made them fun and simple with his steady hand on the tiller.  I miss him so very much.  I know many at Henrico Libraries are also grieving sorely - he just had that impact on all of us.  We were so blessed and lucky to have known him, and I look forward to meeting him again in Heaven when it's my time to move to that next phase of life.   He'll be there with that smile and delight we know so well.  Thank you for sharing him with us. He loved you all so much, I am positive you will always know he is still walking beside you, watching over you, and loving you with all that he is.
