

Weldon Joseph Wirick, Jr., 86, of Richmond, Va., passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Joan Mullen Wirick; and his daughter, Patricia Joan Waters. He is survived by five children, Weldon J. Wirick III and wife, SueAnn, of Richmond, Mark E. Wirick and wife, Mindy, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Christine W. Mann and husband, David, of Richmond, Edward F. Wirick and wife, Resa, of Chesapeake, Va., and Donna L. Wirick and husband, Danny Moran, of Richmond; nine grandchildren, Weldon J. Wirick IV and wife, Melanie, Melissa S. Hayes and husband, Barry, Brian L. Wirick, Andrew M. Wirick and wife, Leslie, Elizabeth L. Moran, William K. Moran, John J. Waters, Matthew E. Wirick and Ellie M. Wirick; five great-grandchildren, Tahlia Wirick, Tyler and Addison White, Charlotte and Cayden Hayes; also loving friend, Sue McNamara. Mr. Wirick served in the Army/Air Force during WWII and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was an engineer with A&P in Altoona, Pa., starting as a warehouseman and a Teamster Union member and later being promoted to Maintenance Engineer. He moved to Richmond in 1972 and worked for Richfood; he then went into business for himself by purchasing and operating DeWitt Refrigeration. He later retired from Kiniry Company. The family will receive friends at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, on Friday, November 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, with a memorial service starting at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Richmond Fisher House Foundation, c/o Mr. Bret Wilkinson, 9201 Arboretum Pkwy., Suite 200, Richmond, Va. 23236.
