William "Bill" Latane Stiff

William (Bill) Latane Stiff left this life on Saturday, October 16, 2021. He was born on July 1, 1928, in Westmoreland County, Virginia, son of Frank M. Stiff and Elizabeth L. Stiff. He attended St. Christopher’s school and graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Virginia. After graduation, he entered the United States Navy and served this nation on board the USS New Jersey during the Korean War. After the war, he continued service in the US Navy for 37 years achieving the rank of Captain. He held a long and noted career as a registered Professional Engineer and worked with companies in Richmond, Virginia, including Reynolds Metals, Carlton & Associates, Wiley & Wilson, BEST Products, and McKinney and Associates. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church at Brook Road. He leaves, to honor his life, his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth (Betty) W. Stiff, sons Dr. William Timothy Stiff (Sue) and Charles Latane Stiff (Page), daughter Karen Elizabeth Webb (Sean], and two granddaughters Kaitlin E . Stiff and Christina L. Stiff. He will be buried in a graveside, family service at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on October 23 , 2021, at 1:00 PM.
