

Alice Pike Dear of Madison passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at her home. Alice was born on April 15, 1928, in Sidon, MS. She graduated from Central High School in Jackson, MS, in 1946. She was married to Eldred Lee Dear on October 5, 1950. She worked for several years for South Central Bell Telephone Company before moving with her husband’s job with Mississippi Power and Light. She was a devoted wife and mother, and she also was a family care-giver when all nieces, nephews, and grandchildren were born. She was the bookkeeper for 30 years for her son Glen’s company Gamma Enterprises, Inc. of Madison, MS. She enjoyed traveling to visit uncles, aunts, and cousins in California and Oregon. She was loved dearly by all who knew her.
She was a long-time and faithful member of Broadmoor Baptist Church. She enjoyed supporting various ministries and missions throughout the community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred Lee Dear; her parents, Frank and Eunice Stout; and her brother, Robert Earl Pike, Jr.
She is survived by her children, Glen Dear (Nan) of Madison, MS; Lisa Dear Brown (Brady) of Canton, MS; and Dale Dear (Laurie) of Jupiter, FL; and six grandchildren, Mary Alice, Betsy, and Jameson Dear of Madison, MS; Brent and Nancy Brown of Canton, MS; and Ava and Harrison Dear of Jupiter, FL. She is also survived by her three sisters, Sandra Stout Lee (Don) of Lenoir City, TN; Diane Stout Bruce (Jack) of Madison, MS; and Susan Stout Hinton (Phil) of Madison, MS; and nephews, Eric and Andy Lee; nieces, Dawn Bruce Martin, Shelia Bruce Cole, and Lauren Hinton.
Visitation for Mrs. Dear is scheduled for Friday, November 9, 2012, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS, followed by the funeral service there at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Lakewood Cemetery in Jackson, MS.
Memorials may be given to Broadmoor Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
