

Anna Germinario Nuzzo, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital under the Passages care of Hospice Ministries at the age of 80.Visitation will be 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland. There will also be a visitation at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at St. Richard Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 on Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Anna was born in Corfu, Greece, and later moved to Torino, Italy, where she met her loving husband of 55 years, George. Together they moved to Jackson in 1956 to begin a new life. Here she became the very proud mother of her two sons, Alfonso and Angelo. Anna and George owned and operated Dixie Restaurant and then Peoples Cafe` on Capitol Street for more than 30 years. In 1989, they sold Peoples Cafe` and opened the Village Square Wine Cellar in Ridgeland which they operated together until March, 2009. Anna had a passion for cooking and gardening. She grew azaleas, roses, gardenias, figs, and numerous herbs and spices.
She is survived by her son, Al Nuzzo and wife, Lesa; granddaughters Anna, Alyssa, and Gabriella all of Jackson; son, Angelo Nuzzo of Madison; sister, Pasqualina and brother, Sergio, both of Torino, Italy, and many other nieces and nephews in Italy, Greece, Australia, and the United States.
Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband, George, and her parents Maria and Guglielmo Germinario.
The family would like to thank Dr. Reid Cotton and the nurses on the 2nd floor North at St. Dominic Hospital: Brandon, Brittany, Scotty, Jennifer, Phillip, Amber, and their aide, Darlene, for all their loving care and compassionate treatment.
Memorials may be made to either St. Richard Catholic Church in Jackson, or to the Chapel Fund at St. Joseph Catholic School in Madison.
