

Arlyn Talmadge Barrett, age 82, died October 31, 2020. Arlyn was born in Jackson, MS, on March 31, 1938 to Robert Earl and Helen Adams Barrett. He graduated from Forest Hill High School where he was star half back in football in the Little Dixie Conference. He served in the MS National Guard before transferring to the USAF from 1958 to 1962 in Zaragoza, Spain. He returned to the US in June, 1964 to work for MHP and then Vickers, Inc. After leaving Vickers he worked for Delta Explorations, working in 15 countries. He returned to the US and worked for Packard Electric/Delphi Packard in Clinton, MS as a Skilled Trades Supervisor 1973-2002. During this time he and his wife Joan raised Quarter Horses on their Turkey Creek Farm in Crystal Springs and enjoyed hunting and NASCAR. He did not care for retirement and went to work for Rogers-Dabbs Chevrolet as a Transportation Specialist. He retired again in 2016 to his farm and shop to work with his son, Frank.
Arlyn is preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, son Kevin Spong, brothers Earl and Eugene Barrett. He is survived by his sisters Ann Beverly (Wendell), Linda Phillips, and brother Dwayne (Nancy), sons, Frank (Niki) Barrett, Glen Hulett, daughters Debbie Roche (Ray), and Page Sartin (Randy), grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifetime of great friends.
Due to the Covid crisis there will be a private family service at a later date at Turkey Creek Farm. His ashes will be interred there along with his wife Joan and sister-in-law Glenda Sanders.
The family would like to share a special thanks to his niece Amy and her daughter Ally, as they are nurses at Copiah County Hospital where they took great care of Arlyn, kept him shaved and looking sharp, for for all the other nurses.
